The Horror

A few years ago I started developing a kind of horror animated film idea.  It would have been a combination of Disney animation style with the popular Creepy and Eerie comic book story style with some comedic moments as well.  I found some of the development work (below) and I animated a test scene that I will try to find and post here one day.  I still think it would be a cool project.

My CTN Highlight

The CTN expo is over and it was a blast, really great.  The highlight for me was showing my original animation artwork that I did for the flip book  and seeing the reaction of everybody.  It gave me such a pleasure to see that everybody still love to see drawings on paper come to life when you flip it.  Almost every student of animation and many professionals still love the art form of hand drawn animation and many still want to do it.  It gave me a boost to actually finish my hand drawn short film and that's my plan for the coming year.  I will post snippets of it soon.

I am also so happy to have sold a lot of the flip books and had people looking for it.  Thank you all who purchased a copy.  My design book was also sold out.   I will be taking orders from you guys who could not make to CTN soon, please stay tuned.
Thanks to my friend James Lopez for taking the picture of me above.

The Three Amigos

It is less than two weeks until the CTN expo and I have to admit that I am  a little anxious about it for it will be my first time at the table and selling my books and posters.  I am glad I will be sharing it with two very talented friends, Len Simon and James Lopez who are also first timers so we can support each other.
I guess it will be a lot of fun and we hope to meet new and great people who loves animation.
See you there.  You can find us at table T 78.

As an artist I get inspired by many others and there are quite a few that are constantly in my mind and I can not get enough of them.  One of these artists who influences me is the Brazilian artist Roberto Negreiros but we all know him just as Negreiros, that's how he signs his drawings.  He is one of the most respected illustrators and cartoonists in Brazil and I really wished he could somehow contribute to animation projects.  One of my dreams is to one day make an animated film and get him to design characters for it.  Who knows, it can happen, right?

He has got everything I love in design like a mixture of Milt Kahl and Ronald Searle but with his own unique touches.  He's so inventive when creating characters and his compositions are candy for the eyes.  He's also amazing with color too.  Even sometimes working fast for a deadline his drawings are still great and full of energy.  I have no doubt that, if he wanted, he could have been one of the best hand drawn animators ever.
