The most important thing for us animators is to make our animated characters act.  No matter if you animate on paper or CG or stop motion, the goal is to create a performance out of your characters. 
I love to study actors in live action movies and you, as an animator, should create the habit of doing that all the time.  Specially these days in CG animation where you can animate your characters really subtly and control spacing to perfection, you can create very interesting acting.
Here is a video I found on youtube where the great actor Michael Caine gives a workshop on acting.
I loved watching this and I learned a lot from it.
