St Trinian's Pencil Test

Searle Project from Sandro Cleuzo on Vimeo.

This is the pencil test of my scene for the animation test that Uli Meyer put together in the style and based on Ronald Searle's St. Trinian's Schoolgirls.
It was great fun to do this animation and Uli's perfect inking made the final test look like it was drawn by Mr. Searle himself.

Take a look at the final piece at
Matt Jones and Uli did the storyboard. Uli drew the layouts and poses for the animators (myself and Boris Hiestand) and most of the inking. Helene Leroux inked the last shot.

Matt Jones e Uli desenharam o storyboard. Uli fez os layouts e as poses para os animadores (no caso eu e Boris Hiestand) e o filete de quase todas as cenas. Helene Leroux filetou a ultima cena.

  1. Love it all, thanks for posting=)

  2. Wow! I had watched this on Uli's blog and loved it. You guys matched the style so well. Really loved watching the pencil test too. Love you work and of course I always look forward to Milt Kahl day!

    Thanks for posting this.

  3. It would be wonderful to see this as a featurette incorporating a bunch of Searle's gag cartoons into a loose storyline. The animation is exquisite - I've watched the entire clip on Uli's site and it's just so much fun to see such expressive cartooning come to life. This is what traditional hand-drawn animation still does best!

  4. Great work! Was blown away by the whole piece.
